WORKSHOP ON MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF INFORMATION SERVICES (13th – 15th SEPTEMBER, 2016)

VENUE: MUHAS LIBRARY

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The three days’ workshop will equip participants with relevant knowledge and skills in promotion and marketing of their information services by using web 2.0 tools and other technologies. The workshop also familiarizes participants with different marketing strategies used currently in libraries/ information centers.

COURSE CONTENTS:
Specifically the workshop will cover the following:
-Introduction to marketing & marketing strategies for promoting information services
 -Introduction to web 2.0 technologies and marketing strategies and policies for information centers
 - How to set up social media/ web 2.0 tools for marketing information services: social network pages, social book marking, audio/video podcasting, blogs and wiki
- How to create electronic marketing tools: multimedia files using movie-maker and online photo collections
- Embed multimedia and photo gallery to your Blog, and other social media for sharing
- Use of quick response (QR) code technology as a marketing tool
-Tools for generating Library Reports for Management feedback: Google Analytics & tracking site visitors and downloads

TARGET GROUP: Professionals involved in information management, institutional management, librarians, information scientists, researchers, postgraduate students, lecturers, project administrators, ICT professionals and any other professionals working with cutting edge technologies.

WORKSHOP DATES AND VENUE: The workshop will be conducted from Tuesday 12th to Thursday 14th July, 2016 (3 days) at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences Library - ICT LAB

WORKSHOP FEE: The workshop fee is TZS 350,000/= per each participant covering the course fee, stationery, refreshments and certificates. Participants are requested to arrange transport and accommodation at their own cost.

FACILITATORS: The course will be facilitated by experienced subject and educational specialists from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.

WORKSHOP ON RECORDS MANAGEMENT AND CATALOGUING (27th – 29th April 2016)

WORKSHOP DATES AND VENUE:
The workshop will be conducted from 27th – 29th April 2016 (3 days) at Muhimbili University of Health and Allie Sciences Library ICT LAB

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The three days workshop will equip participants with advanced knowledge and technical skills on records management; library cataloguing and classification and subject analysis.

COURSE CONTENTS:
Specifically the workshop will cover the following topics:
•    Basic records terminologies and different types of records
•    Standards and procedures for organization of records
•    Application of procedures for  organizing  records
•    Introduction to organization of knowledge
•    Descriptive cataloguing of library materials using AACR2 rules
•    Subject analysis and formulation of subject headings
•    Application of Library of Congress and Dewey Decimal Classification Schemes
•    CIP Cataloguing
•    Online cataloguing

TARGET GROUP:
Professionals involved in information management, records management, archivists, librarians, information scientists, and any other professionals in records management and library cataloguing and classification.

MODE OF DELIVERY: Face to face, video conference and hands-on practice
 
COURSE STRUCTURE
The workshop will be conducted over three days (10-12 August 2015). The workshop will comprise lectures delivered in a classroom setting, hands-on exercises, group work and individual practical work delivered both physically and through video conference facilities 
 
CONTENT
This three-day workshop will introduce you to evidence based practice and critical appraisal techniques and equip you with skills in using web 2.0 tools to enhance and improve evidencebased health care, collaborative work and knowledge sharing within your organization and with stakeholders, and increase the level of innovation within your organisation.
 
FUNDING AND FINANCE
This course is supported and funded by Elsevier Foundation. The sponsorship for successful applicants will cover the cost of registration, light refreshments and lunches for each participant. A small allowance to cover the accommodation costs shall be given to participants from outside Dar es salaam.

PARTICIPATION

The course is open to researchers, lecturers, library and information professionals, health care professionals, and graduate students from institutions involved in medical and health sciences. • How to upload research outputs to MUHAS repository.
• Evidence based databases TRIP, Cochrane.
• Use of technologies for teaching Web 2.0 drop box, G-Drive including Googledocs, Google forms.
• Access and search relevant open access resources for health

INVITATION TO ATTEND A WORKSHOP ON THE TEACHING & LEARNING IN THE CLOUD USING GOOGLE DRIVE (WEDNESDAY, 28TH MAY 2014)

The Directorate of Library Services is organizing a half day workshop training on “TEACHING & LEARNING IN THE CLOUD USING GOOGLE DRIVE” on Wednesday, 28th May 2014. You are therefore requested to attend the workshop, which will be conducted at MUHAS Library ICT Lab, Second Floor of the Library Building on Wednesday, 28th May 2014 (9 am – 1.00 pm).

The workshop focuses on building capacity of academic staff and postgraduate students at MUHAS to use Google drive to enhance their teaching, learning, collaboration and research activities.  Participants will be introduced to Google drive and will learn how to use them hands-on. The workshop will mainly focus on the following topics:
-          Introduction to the participatory cloud computing & World Wide Web (Web 2.0)  technologies
-          Remote collaboration: How to develop content remotely using Google drive
-          Creation of online surveys in google drive
