A CALL FOR INTEGRATED LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING KOHA SOFTWARE TRAINING WORKSHOP

Integrated Library Management System Using Koha Software Training Workshop
Venue: Library Computer Lab, Dar es Salaam
Date: 26th - 28th March 2018 (3 days)
Workshop Fee: TZS 350,000/=
AIM OF THE WORKSHOP:
The three days’ workshop will equip participants with advanced knowledge and technical skills on KOHA the most advanced and cost effective open source library automation solution. The workshop will introduce participants to the KOHA basic features, functionalities and setting up of KOHA integrated library management system.

  • KOHA Introduction & features Overview
  • Installation of KOHA on windows or Linux operating systems
  • Introduction and configuration of KOHA software
  • Demonstration of all modules like; Acquisitions, Cataloguing, Circulation & OPAC, Introduction to MARC- 21, Multilingual Support KOHA, MARC Records, Import features in KOHA etc.

Participants are requested to arrange transport and accommodation at their own cost.
PAYMENT MODE:
Payment is due before start of workshop ad it can be made through the institutional bank account at any National Microfinance Bank (NMB) branch. Account Number: 2091100002, and Account Name: Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.

A CALL FOR WORKSHOP ON SYSTEMATIC REVIEWS AND META-ANALYSIS


SUPPORTED BY ITOCA, CORNELL UNIVERSITY AND CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY; MUHAS LIBRARY

MAIN OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this workshop is to equip participants with necessary hands-on skills to conduct systematic review and Meta analysis

DATE AND VENUE
v  5th to 9th FEB. 2018
v  MUHAS, Library Computer lab,
v  Time: 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM
TOPICS TO BE COVERED
Ø  Systematic Reviews process, related methods and protocol development
Ø  Identifying databases and sources of grey literature
Ø  Tools and resources for accessing the full text of articles
Ø  Developing complex and comprehensive search in Pub med
Ø  Covidence for managing the systematic review process
Ø  Quality assessment, risk of bias and meta-analysis for systematic reviews

ATTENDANCE
Attendance is free for MUHAS staff and students. Participants from outside MUHAS will have to pay Tshs 350,000/= as participation fees.

FIRST MUHAS LIBRARY SYMPOSIUM CONDUCTED ON 5TH DECEMBER 2017

The Directorate of Library Service conducted its first symposium on 5th December 2017 at the 24 room located at library building starting from on 2:00Pm to 4:50pm
The event was mainly meant for all first year students, though continuing students, postgraduate and faculty staffs were also invited to attend the event.  

 The objectives of this event were to create awareness of e-resources and enhancing usage of e-resources at MUHAS. This lessons  were delivered  by Dr. Mboni Ruzegea and Mr. Deodatus Sabas through presentation and demonstrations.
