Transfusion Evidence Library database is now available at MUHAS - Muhimbili campus

The Transfusion Evidence Library database is now officially available at MUHAS – Muhimbili campus. The database consists of Systematic Reviews and Randomized Controlled Trials, and is a unique resource for medical practitioners, policy makers and researchers in the field of transfusion medicine.

 The high quality of the evidence is ensured by applying strict methodological criteria, and new records are added every month. All relevant Systematic Reviews (since 1980) and RTCs (since 1998) are included, and pre-1998 RCTs will be added in the future. In the UK all NHS staff have access to this database.

In summary, the Transfusion Evidence Library database offers you:

·         Access to evidence-based information on all aspects of transfusion medicine
·         Access to all Systematic Reviews since 1980
·         Access to all Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) since 2002.  We are in the process of adding RCTs from before 2002.
·         Economic Studies (since 1980) relevant to transfusion medicine
·         Fully customized user interface specifically designed for the transfusion medicine community, including search filters that make it very easy to find specific information.
·         All users receive a monthly Transfusion Evidence Alert listing the 10 most important and interesting new high quality publications
·         Direct one-click-access to all free full text articles
·         Soon the be added: Expert Reviews  of individual articles.

CALL FOR APPLICATION: DIGITAL REPOSITORIES AND WEB 2.0 TECHNOLOGIES LEARNING OPPORTUNITY (8-11 April, 2014)

Course Fee for Tanzanians: 300,000 TShs   

Course Fee for Non-Tanzanians: US$ 300

Overall Course objectives:
This four days workshop, will introduce participants to the terminology and some of the software tools that support development of institutional repositories, optimizing access to content in digital library and repository through Web 2.0 technologies.

 Course Main Topics
1. Introduction to basic digital library, repositories and web 2.0 terminologies
2. Introduction to open source software: work with linux software
3. Work with dspace software to set up a digital repository
4. Use web 2.0 to feature the contents of a repository
5. Online publishing through web 2.0 tools

Who Should Attend? Professionals involved in information management, institutional management, librarians, lecturers ,project administrators and any other professional who has a use for ICT or digital repository in their work.

Training Format: Training over 4 consecutive days, Face to face in a group setting and practical sessions for online cataloguing tools, Attendance on all 4 days is required for certificate of completion.
