EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE AND CRITICAL APPRAISAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITY, MUHAS, TANZANIA (19-21 AUGUST 2013)

PARTICIPATION
The course is open to researchers, lecturers, library and information professionals, health care professionals, and graduate students from institutions involved in medical and health sciences in Tanzania. Specifically, participants are expected to come from relevant government ministries, Non-Governmental Organizations, universities and faculties of medical and health sciences in Tanzania. The language of instruction is English. No basic computer and internet modules will be covered during the workshop.

FUNDING AND FINANCE
This course is supported and funded by Elsevier Foundation. The sponsorship for successful applicants will cover the cost of registration, light refreshments and lunches for each participant. A small allowance to cover the accommodation costs shall be given to participants from outside Dar es salaam.

Only twenty (20) participants will be invited to attend the Workshop. Therefore we would appreciate if you respond quickly as the available slots will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. An application form is included in this announcement below. Completed application forms with signed authorization should reach the Workshop Coordinator by 2nd August, 2013.

Clinical Research Training Workshop: July 29th to August 9th 2013

This MicroResearch workshop will provide training and opportunities to do community based research especially to improve health of mothers & children.

The workshop will:
• Encourage collaboration,
• Provide mentors in Canada and East Africa,
• Exchange ideas, strategies and knowledge of local community needs,

Who is eligible to attend?
o Academic faculty staff in any clinical training program
o Trainees in clinical areas who would like to become researchers will be considered

What will be expected from you?
The workshop will take half a day every day for 2 weeks so attendance is essential

A WORKSHOP ON ELECTRONIC REFERENCE MANAGEMENT AND ADVANCED ONLINE SEARCH TECHNIQUES - 1-2 AUGUST 2013

Once again, the Directorate of Library Services will organize a Two Days workshop on Electronic Reference Management and Advanced Online Search Techniques.
The workshop will be conducted at the MUHAS, Undergraduate
Computer Lab from 1st to 2nd August, 2013 (10 am to 3.30 pm).

Target group - Academic staff at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS)

25 participants will be accepted for the workshop. Therefore, earlier
registration for the workshop is encouraged.

THE SINGLE SEARCH INTERFACE FOR ALL SUBSCRIBED E-RESOURCES AT MUHAS

With a support from KIOX and USAID, MUHAS library has been able to set a system that incorporates all of subscribed online journals and books, including content form HINARI, AGORA and OARE, all searchable and downloadable through one single interface. It is now possible to search and download full text articles from all e-resources subscribed by MUHAS library from a single searching tool.
