  • Reference management software

A WORKSHOP ON OPEN DATA; OPEN ACCESS AND INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORY TO ACADEMIC STAFF ON 25TH NOVEMBER, 2016



The Directorate of Library Services is  planning to conduct a workshop on open data, Open access and Institutional policy to academic staff at MUHAS.
The content of the workshop include:-

  • Review institutional repository Policy at MUHAS
  • Open data, open access and open science.
  • Tools for open access data and open access.
  • How to access and deposit content into Institutional repository at MUHAS.

This workshop will be conducted on 25th November, 2016 from 09:00am to 3:00pm at MUHAS Library ICT Lab.

Training on online search and retrieval of scientific literature on 30th November 2016

The Directorate of Library Services at the Muhimbili University of Health and Sciences (MUHAS) is planning to conduct a training workshop for postgraduate students at the University on online search and retrieval.

WORKSHOP ON ELECTRONIC RECORDS MANAGEMENT AND DIGITIZATION

WORKSHOP  VENUE: The workshop will be conducted at  Muhimbili University Library ICT LAB

 
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The three days workshop will equip participants with advanced knowledge and technical skills on electronic records management (ERM) and digitation processes.  This is a perfect learning opportunity to introduce participants on how to set up a functional records management systems, implementing electronic records management systems, and acquisition of electronic records management systems and its digitization process.
COURSE CONTENTS:
Specifically the workshop will cover the following topics:

         ERM business drivers and The need for ERM best practices
         The link between ERM and your current situation
         Methodologies and technologies for managing electronic records
         Development of metadata model, classification schemes and access controls
         Appraisal, Retention and preservation of electronic records
         Legislation, Policy, standards and regulations
         Electronic filing – Practical hands on
         E-mail records management – Practical hands on
         Introduction to ERM software and appraisal techniques
         M-Files Electronic Records Management Software – Practical hands on
         Designing computerized records management systems using MS Access or MySQL- Practical hands on
         Web 2.0 application in records and archives management Practical hands on
         Digitization/Scanning – Practical hands on with our Digitizers
         Managing records automation projects - Implementation planning execution

The course will be facilitated by experienced subject and educational specialists from Muhimbili University Library.

2013 and 2014 Updates of the TEEAL materials at MUHAS

The 2013 and 2014 Updates of the TEEAL materials for MUHAS  have been updated.

The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library (TEEAL) is now available at MUHAS - Muhimbili Campus. It is a searchable, offline, digital library which contains International journals in various subject areas: agriculture, biology biotechnology, applied microbiology,  biochemistry, biophysics,  entomology, pest control, environment,nutrition, human medicine, physiology, economics, social science, development, 
The collection is updated annually, and it contains a growing number of prestigious full-text journals from leading publishers such as Elsevier and Taylor & Francis.
